This is a translation. If it differs from the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.
The operator of ChordTube (the "Service") handles information about users as follows. Terms are used as in the terms of use.
1. Information we collect
- Signing in with Google: we receive only an ID that tells Google accounts apart. We do not receive your e-mail address, name or profile picture.
- Account information: your display name (chosen automatically at first; you can change it), when you signed up, and how many edits you have made.
- What you do: your edits to chord charts (published with your display name, revision by revision), favorites, playlists, viewing history (the latest 500 songs; you can pause or clear it) and AI analyses (the video and when).
- View counts: for the rankings, when a song has played for 30 seconds we record, once a day, your account or, if you are not signed in, a random ID in a guest cookie, in a form that cannot be reversed (a hash with a secret key). These records are deleted after 30 days. View counts are never shown.
- Access information: IP address, time, pages visited and the like. To limit melody searches we use the IP address in the server's memory for about a minute and do not store it. To investigate problems and prevent abuse, our servers and hosting providers may keep access logs for a limited time.
2. Why we use it
- To provide the Service (sign-in, editing, favorites, playlists, history, AI analysis)
- To count which songs are watched, for the rankings
- To deal with vandalism and abuse, and to investigate problems
- To improve the Service
3. Cookies and browser storage
chordtube_session: keeps you signed in (30 days).chordtube_login: used only while signing in (10 minutes).chordtube_guest: a random ID to count a guest's views once a day (1 year).- Browser localStorage: your display settings and your viewing history while not signed in (up to 100 songs). They stay on your device and are not sent to us.
- We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies and no analytics services.
4. Other services
- YouTube: song pages use YouTube's embedded player. YouTube (Google) may collect information through the player, for example with cookies, as described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- Google: for signing in (as in 1 above, we receive only an ID that tells accounts apart).
- Cloudflare and Vercel: traffic to the Service passes through services of Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) and Vercel Inc. (USA) and is handled under their privacy policies.
5. What is public, and sharing with third parties
Your display name, the revisions you edit, songs added by AI analysis, and playlists shared with "anyone with the link" (with their collaborators' display names) can be seen by other users. We do not give other information to third parties without your consent, except where required by law.
6. Seeing, correcting and deleting your information
- You can change your display name, pause and clear your history, and delete favorites and playlists on the site.
- To delete your account, or to see, correct or delete other information, please write to the contact below.
7. Security
Traffic is encrypted. IDs used for view counts are kept as hashes, and the database cannot be reached directly from outside.
8. Changes
We may change this policy. The changed policy takes effect when it is posted on the Service.
